Gemini
Gemini’s bearing force
Dealt her life a twisting course,
Booting her South in a flick of time,
Hooking her decades, she was gripped in strive.
But beckoning her forth,
The Light House, at
South End, had heard her call.
Setting her sails to mast, and
Throwing overboard her twin’s, dark, force.
Ploughing her oars,
She, was, mightily, thanking, the Lord,
All the way, to
South End’s Esplanade,
And the Promenade.
Crossing ocean’s fluidity,
The hazy sun sets and fluxing opacity.
Resisting the Siren’s alluring songs –
Those seducing Demon’s calls,
Sweetening her anticipated Victory,
To end her dreadful Odyssey.
then,
At South End’s Esplanade,
And the Promenade,
The Sirens,
Caught her up in England’s End
Before tasting her sweetest victory ,
Reuniting with her misery,
The End
I sent this poem and the picture to inspire her during treatment in rehab’. The last verse, was added after she returned home, the outcome wasn’t what was expected, sadly. But, she may yet summon the will to conquer her demons, and I do hope that that day is just around the corner, and for all those who are suffering with addiction.
Addictions, and their effects are all around me, from family members caught in the lure of drugs and alcohol to the growing number of drug-addicted street people who survive by robbing people, either directly or by breaking in homes, cars and stores. The problem has reached epidemic proportions and there really are no properly set up programs or agencies to deal with it.

Hi Sha’Tara, its so terrible when families and communities are blighted by drugs.
Today, addiction seems more concentrated and widespread every where, and the Canadian model, treatment programmes, have not worked, esp’, when adopted by the criminal justice system. Particularly for those not ready to stop. But, of course, those who are, have always had a better chance of success under any model. The model hasn’t worked, I think, bcs’, the substances of addiction get switched from illegal to, stronger, legal ones, while ignoring social needs, thinking that CBT will correct ‘faulty’ thinking. And, when you think that we have legal highs, made in laboratories, called e.g, synthetic marijuana/Spice, made from a collection of poisons not herbs or plants, being peddled to kids, and to adults zentex, opiods, methadone etc, no wonder, a spike in this recent epidemic is evident. When you have state sponsored addiction that is pushing drugs, on it’s people and those of other nations’, seems to explain for me, at least, this peak and sudden global explosion.

The state is clearly sponsoring addiction, and pushing drugs on their own and on other nations’, explaining for me, at least, this sudden global explosion.
